U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton voiced strong opposition Monday to proposed U.N. resolutions on “defamation of religions,” saying that such policies would restrict free speech.
In opening remarks for the release of the State Department’s Annual Report on International Religious Freedom, Clinton said that while some claim so-called defamation of religions policies would help protect freedom of religion, she “strongly disagree[s].”
“The United States will always seek to counter negative stereotypes of individuals based on their religion and will stand against discrimination and persecution,” Clinton stated. “But an individual’s ability to practice his or her religion has no bearing on others’ freedom of speech.” Read the rest.
ANN ARBOR, Michigan — For 63 years, a privately maintained nativity scene has been displayed during the Christmas season on a public median in Warren, Michigan. That 63 year-old tradition was abruptly ended by the Macomb County Road Commission, which controls private displays on public medians in the county, after it received a threatening letter from the Freedom From Religion Foundation, an atheist organization that has as its aim the removal of all religious symbols from the public square. Rather than stand up to the atheists, the Road Commission ordered the removal of the private nativity scene, in violation of the Constitution. Read More.

EVANGELICALS: Your Leaders Endorsed Mass Amnesty Today

Leaders of most of the nation's evangelical Christians made a shocking endorsement of illegal-alien amnesty today in Senate testimony.
Their spokesman -- the head of the National Association of Evangelicals (NAE) -- said high immigration is increasing membership in evangelical churches and is good for the economy.

Most ministers would be afraid to preach these messages today. The men who witnessed the birth of our nation understood that even civil magistrates—politicians—are obligated to place themselves under the sovereign hand of God. Many ministers today have tried to remain neutral in the face of politics, which has become increasingly godless. You’ve heard ministers tell their congregations to stay out of politics with some of the following:
"Politics is dirty.”
“Jesus didn’t get mixed up in politics.”
“There’s a separation between church and state.”
“Our citizenship is in heaven.”
“We’re not supposed to judge.”
“You can’t impose your morality on other people.”
Joseph Strong stated in 1802 that our fathers adhered to the principle “that none ought to be elevated to public office except those whose opinions and behavior were strictly Christian” and that “righteousness exalts a nation.” When is the last time you heard anything like that?
These are principles that many Christians have forgotten. We’re not in a mess today because of unbelievers; we’re in a mess because we are a nation that has lost its memory of its Christian beginnings.

WHEREAS, this nation has become a world leader in promoting abortion, pornography, same sex marriage, sex trafficking, divorce, illegitimate births, child abuse, and many other forms of debauchery; and
WHEREAS, alarmed that the Government of the United States of America is forsaking the rich Christian heritage upon which this nation was built; and
WHEREAS, grieved that the Office of the president of these United States has refused to uphold the long held tradition of past presidents in giving recognition to our National Day of Prayer; and
WHEREAS, deeply disturbed that the Office of the president of these United States disregards the biblical admonitions to live clean and pure lives by proclaiming an entire month to an immoral behavior [i.e., the White House issued a national proclamation for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Month];
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that we the undersigned elected officials of the people of Oklahoma, religious leaders and citizens of the State of Oklahoma, appealing to the Supreme Judge of the world, solemnly declare that the HOPE of the great State of Oklahoma and of these United States, rests upon the Principles of Religion and Morality as put forth in the HOLY BIBLE; and
BE IT RESOLVED that we, the undersigned, believers in the One True God and His only Son, call upon all to join with us in recognizing that "Blessed is the Nation whose God is the Lord," and humbly implore all who love Truth and Virtue to live above reproach in the sight of God and man with a firm reliance on the leadership and protection of Almighty God; and

Red Skelton and the Pledge: has our country fallen this far?
Sen. Jim DeMint told a packed crowd at Tommy’s Ham House Aug. 20 that a lot of Congressmen and Senators are going to return to Washington after the August break with a new frame of mind because they are hearing from the American people.
Sen DeMint, who opposes the president’s health care plan, said he knows the president’s motive is not to get the uninsured insured and that his motive is not to lower the cost of private health insurance because he has introduced bills that would have moved the country in that direction, and they were voted down by the Democrats.
“I introduced a bill that would at least allow people who have to buy their own insurance outside of an employer to deduct that cost from their taxes.” Every Democrat including Barack Obama, voted against it, he said.
Sen. DeMint introduced a bill to lower insurance costs for consumers by allowing them to buy insurance policies from other states. Every Democrat, including Barack Obama, voted against it. “What they are trying to do is take control of our health care system so they can control a bigger part of our economy, a bigger part of our lives,” Sen. DeMint said, “not because they have bad intentions, but because they really do believe that centrally managed economics work.”
Sen. DeMint said that we have to stop the president on the health care bill and force him to sit down and listen to the American people, to reflect their values and priorities. “If not,” Sen. DeMint said, “he is going to spend and borrow this country into oblivion…. When we have countries like China and Saudi Arabia telling us to get our debt down and get our spending down because they are concerned about our currency, we should be horrified.”
Sen. DeMint went on to say: “I think you are here this morning because you have been reminded that this country belongs to you and not the politicians. The only way to keep politicians straight is for them to be more afraid of you than they are of someone else who is lobbying the government.” :
Sen. DeMint said it makes a big difference to see such support when he comes home. “I would be more tempted to give in if I didn’t fly home every weekend from Washington,” he said.
The CEO Round Table of South Carolina conducted a Townhall meeting Aug. 18 on “Principles and Politics: The Role of Character and Faith in Public Policy.”
The panel discussing these topics were Dr. Tony Beam, host of “Christian Worldview Today” on Christian Talk 660; Dr. Frank S. Page, former president of the Southern Baptist Convention; Rep. Gresham Barrett, Third District congressman; Dr. Michael Hamlet, pastor of the First Baptist Church in North Spartanburg; and Josh Kimbrell, president and chairman of the CEO Round Table of South Carolina.
Matthew Campbell, the CEO’s vice president of advancement, introduced the evening’s activities.
In attendance were Lt. Gov. Andre Bauer and Bill Connor, candidate for lieutenant governor.
According to the organization’s web site (www.ceopac.org), the mission of CEO (Christians Empowered and Organized) Round Table of South Carolina is to bring a consistent, conservative message to the Palmetto State. This objective is accomplished by bringing together social and economic conservatives out of conviction that the two are interdependent.
The event took place on the rooftop of the New York Life Building overlooking the Drive Stadium in downtown Greenville.
